A Modern Wedding at Sound River Studios in NYC

Weddings and Elopements

Oct 18

Lohanna and Maxim’s wedding at Sound River Studios was such a fun one to photograph. Think crisp black tie, an all-white space, sculptural florals in shades of blue and green, and so many incredible little details.

The entire celebration had this really cool mix of modern and romantic, with a little bit of a fashion edge that felt perfectly at home in New York.

A Sound River Studios Wedding

Sound River Studios gave us such a clean backdrop to work with. The ceremony space was kept almost entirely white, which made the floral design stand out even more. Hydrangeas, trailing greenery, and unexpected sculptural elements brought shades of blue and green into the space.

Against all of that white, every detail had its moment without the design ever feeling overdone.

And then there were Lohanna and Maxim. Her sleek wedding gown and his classic black tux fit the setting perfectly, and we had so much fun moving around the space and creating portraits together.

Dinner, Details, and a Second Look

For the reception, the floral installation continued along the dinner table, spilling over the edge alongside candlelight, glassware, and deep blue seating.

We spent some time around the table, which gave us a chance to play around with the design and create a mix of portraits and detail photographs throughout the space.

Later, Lohanna changed into her second look and the whole feel shifted. Between the satin gown, champagne, candlelight, and direct flash, it was the perfect excuse to create something a little different from the softer photographs earlier in the day.

Nighttime Wedding Portraits in New York City

One of the best parts about Sound River Studios is having the city right outside, so of course we had to sneak away for a few nighttime portraits along the waterfront.

With the New York skyline glowing behind them, we brought out the flash and let the photos get a little moodier and more spontaneous.

From the bright white ceremony space and incredible floral design to champagne and portraits after dark, there were so many different elements to play with throughout Lohanna and Maxim’s wedding. It was modern, stylish, and such a fun night to photograph in New York City.
