A Summer Couples Session at Winterthur Museum & Garden

Couples and Portraits

One Location, Endless Variety

One of the things that makes Winterthur Museum & Garden so special is how much variety it offers within a single session. In just one afternoon, we photographed against historic architecture, tucked-away gardens, grand stone staircases, and lush woodland paths—each setting bringing a completely different feel while still creating a cohesive gallery.

For couples who want their photos to feel diverse without traveling between multiple locations, it’s hard to imagine a better setting.

A Session That Evolves

As the afternoon unfolded, the gallery naturally shifted in mood. Some images feel lighthearted and playful, while others are quieter and more intimate. Rather than forcing one particular style throughout the session, we leaned into whatever each location offered.

That variety is one of my favorite parts of photographing at Winterthur. Every corner creates a new atmosphere without ever feeling disconnected from the story.

Letting the Location Shine

Winterthur has a way of making every season feel beautiful. The estate’s historic architecture adds timeless character, while the surrounding gardens soften the space with layers of greenery and texture. Even simple moments become elevated when they’re surrounded by so much natural beauty.

It’s a location that doesn’t need elaborate styling to feel special. It simply allows your relationship to take center stage.
