There’s something so fun about a winter engagement session in the middle of the city, especially when there’s still a little snow on the ground.
We started this one at the Fulton Theatre before heading outside and wandering around downtown Lancaster together. We didn’t have a long list of places we needed to hit. Instead, we walked, found spots we loved along the way, and let the city be the backdrop.

Starting at the Fulton Theatre
We started inside the Fulton Theatre, which was such a good way to kick off the session (and escape the cold for a little bit!).
From the staircases and patterned carpets to the theater’s historic details, there were so many little corners to work with before we headed outside.
From there, we made our way into one of the brick alleyways nearby. With snow still lining the streets, we spent some time dancing, running around, and having fun before continuing through the city.

Wandering Through Downtown Lancaster
One of my favorite ways to photograph a city engagement session is to simply pick a starting point and wander from there.
We crossed streets, stopped in front of buildings that caught our eye, grabbed coffee along the way, and found completely different backdrops within just a few blocks. Downtown Lancaster is perfect for this because there’s such a mix of historic architecture, brick streets, alleyways, storefronts, and little tucked-away spots everywhere you turn.

A Little Save-the-Date Moment
They also brought along custom newspapers with their wedding date printed on them, which we saved for the last part of the session.
We found a set of snowy steps downtown and had some fun with them there. It was such a cute way to incorporate their wedding date without making the entire session revolve around a prop, and now they have photos they can use for their save the dates too.
This whole session was such a good reminder that winter engagement photos don’t have to mean finding a big scenic location or waiting for perfect weather. Sometimes all you need is a city you love, a little snow, and a few hours to wander around together.
